The Nippon Club is a nice little tucked away establishment, which many easily walk passed without a second glance. I really like this, as you feel quite far removed from the typically city atmosphere as you walk down the old carpeted stairway to open the door to what looks like a Japanese inspired RSL club. As you enter, a very small, casual bar is on your right behind you slighly. No fancy drinks menu. Just whatever beer they have in stock and of course wines and spirits.
You can then move on into the restaurant section which is fairly big and open. The staff are very polite and friendly. The food I have had here, is always decent, but nothing has ever wowed me about it. The pork katudon was competent. There is definitely nothing to complain about, but the pork isn’t as smooth or juicy and cannot compete with somewhere like Mosman: Mino which I have to rate as one of my absolute favourite Japanese restaurants.
The set below on another lunch occasion, was again o.k. but nothing really to write home about.
