I have been to Temasek many times, and highly recommend it. This time around we had the hainanese chicken rice, the chicken is exceptionally smooth and well prepared, not much saltiness to it, which I actually like because it balances nicely with the chilli and sweet/tangy black sauce, and very fragrant rice made with chicken stock. zctllO1386864270The soup is exactly what I would expect from Hawker stall Singapore/Malaysia, it is just a light clear soup with some fried onions to cleans the palate before taking another bite.

Next we had two noodle dishes, the mee-goreng and the fried hokkien-mee (Malaysian style). The Mee-goreng is great, creamy, a bit tangy from the tomato and lemon that you squeeze on it, as well as some heat from the chilli, beansprouts, seafood which is perfectly cooked, and bits of fried pork lard which makes it extra tasty!

The same goes for the Malaysian Style Hokkien mee, normally, honestly I like regular Hokkien mee (the lighter coloured one, with no black sauce because good ones are normally cooked with prawn and pork stock and very flavourful, and the Malaysian Style is normally a bit bland and tasteless by comparison) However when this came we were very nicely surprised that these noodles pack a taste punch. The dish is cooked with prawn/pork stock, the seafood (squid and prawns) are really tender and moist, it has the salty-sweet twist from the black sauce – and oh I can’t forget to mention the fried pork lard bits which give it extra flavour and depth.  Recommend this dish. Don’t particularly like the lemon squeezed on it though, but to each their own 🙂
