Baroque Pantry and Baroque Bistro is also a sister of Sydney CBD: La Renaissance all owned and operated by the Charkos family.

It was a lovely day, so we sat outside. We ordered iced teas and their fresh squeezed juice (which was watermelon and orange) both were very refreshing, lovely thirst quencher for a summer day. I liked that the juice didn’t taste like it had any added sugar to it, which is my pet hate.

Now on to the food. We ordered the:

  • Baroque Burger ($22) (served medium) – Baroque’s signature grind patty, melted Gruyere, house ketchup, cornichons and black truffle, served with fries.
  • Charcuterie Plate for two ($52) – Selection of cured meats, terrine and paté served with traditional condiments
  • Croque MoKvJMV91387089758nsieur ($19)  – Double smoked leg ham, bechamel sauce, Swiss Gruyère grilled on sourdough. Served with a green leaf salad

The shoestring fries were nice as expected, and the burger was really well done. The brioche bread made the burger rather special. The melted gruyere went really well with the ketchup and cornichons and the black truffle made the meat pop. The Charcuterie plate for two came with a small bucket of fresh bread. I was told the cured meats and terrine wew70In01387089686re not bad, but the paté was rather bland. On to the Croque Monsieur, this is not for those on a diet! However I do love a good bechamel sauce and this was certainly nice and creamy, with no dry bits. The swiss gruyère cheese had melted through nicely and went well with the double smoked leg ham. I was quite satisfied. All in all, with the ambience of the Rocks Weekend Markets going on below, it was a nice atmosphere and brunch spot.
